Its Friday...

...Styling on my Mind!

The roof framers started on Monday, and by Wednesday we had almost an entire roof! And gee whiz, it looks big! I am wondering if they finished today, as we haven't had a chance to visit this afternoon, but as I went past around midday, there were eaves and fascia, so I suspect its not far off! With any luck the supervisor has arranged the roof sheets to be delivered early next week and we may have some sheets on before Easter. If not, I don't anticipate it happening until after ANZAC Day.

With things actually moving at a decent pace, I've started thinking about decorating. As you may remember from my Selections post, the walls throughout will be pale grey, and all the trims will be crisp white. I want to keep quite neutral and simple colours in the furniture, giving me the opportunity to funk things up with linens, cushions and wall art!

I managed to snap up a couple of great watercolour skyline prints from the UK for $10 a piece, and have sorted frames for them for under $10 each. These will hang either side of the Games Room doorway, facing the kitchen. Very happy with them for under $40 total!

I have also purchased a large piece of fabric which I intend to frame as a statement piece, maybe for the Living/Dining Area. I haven't yet got the frame, and I am contemplating throwing a splatter of bright pink or yellow from one corner toward the diagonal opposite before I frame it, to give it some character. The fabric was under $15, because I know this is a trend piece which will most likely date, but at $15 I can change the fabric every season if I want to!

And this room on The Block was my inspiration (although they had a custom made blind to get the effect!)

And lastly, I have been searching for the perfect linens! I have a beautiful print in our current house, that my sister purchased for our engagement present, and I have been on the lookout for accessories to tie the colours in it, in with the greys and neutrals of the new house. I am going to hang it in the guest room, so was thinking a throw rug and a couple of decorative cushions on the guest bed would tie it in, if I could find the right balance of linen in a funky style but neutral enough that bright accessories would work with it.

And then tonight I found it. As well as the perfect look for our new bed (not yet purchased) in the Master Bedroom.

Snapped these bargains up and I LOVE them!
Master Bedding, all pillows and cushions included! Love!

Now I just need to hope that everything comes together the way I see it in my mind!

Praise Yeezus...

...The Bricks are Finished!

What a trying time! The lack of progress from week to week started off a little ridiculous, then it was frustrating, and by the end it was almost sending us batty! It took 6 weeks and 1 day, but the brickwork is finally complete!

We now have a fully formed front feature elevation, ready for the stonework to be laid on the piers and the top recessed area, when the time comes.

The Living area is looking lovely and spacious

Standing near the Theatre, looking toward the kitchen

...and looking back the other direction

And the piers in the Alfresco give a great idea of how big it is going to be. I am already envisioning lovely summer evenings sitting out there with a drink in hand!

I love how big it looks when we stand back and take a pic from the back of the block, up above!

The husband is also happy, as the concrete for his Man Cave was poured today, after many hiccups!

120sqm of concrete goodness!

The steel has also been delivered, although installation is not due to happen until next Friday so hopefully nothing gets stolen between now and then....

With any luck, the roof framers should start next week, but we're not holding our breath. I forsee the house sitting untouched for a couple of weeks, especially with Easter almost upon us, but you never know, we may be pleasantly surprised!

Time will tell...
